With all the buzz about Earth Month and the green-filled festivities occurring across the globe, everyone is expanding their outlook on what it means to be "eco-friendly." Even better, people are adopting habits to minimize their trash and contributions to the landfill.
Recently Erykah Badu dedicated a mixtape to the endangered bee species, Jadakiss opened a juice bar, and Future is headlining Broccoli City Fest, a festival dedicated to building awareness around sustainable practices including recycling, reducing energy usage and alternative forms of transportation.

Love it love it love it! I was reading about Akon’s work in Africa with solar energy and wish that there were more examples out there of musicians and celebrities walking the talk when it comes to sustainable living as they have so much influence that could be used for encouraging green habits. Here in Portland where we live, we learn so much just by walking around our neighborhoods, getting ideas about what we can do to get even greener, from someone using an old suitcase as a planter, to used book “mini-libraries” in front of houses and apartments, to families showing their kiddos how to plant seeds or a veggie start into the ground, to starting conversations with passersby (as we do) about our rain cistern that we painted colorfully and installed in our front yard. Conversation starters whether it be on social media or right in front of your house can influence so much change!
