reusable menstrual pad pattern debuts

participating at @blackmomsblog's period party was a perfect way to kick off my first week of 2019. in preparation for the event, i finally made a reusable pad pattern that will be offered digitally on my website and in person at events. yay! during the period party, i was told that middle schoolers (IN ATLANTA!) are using toilet paper to stop leakage because they can't afford pads. and most of us are familiar with young women globally being denied opportunities because of their cycles. reusable pads are: ONE, liberating because they allow the user to renew their relationship with their cycle.  TWO, economical because they can be washed and used over and over again. THREE healthy because they lack chemicals found in most disposable pads. FOUR, environmentally friendly because they are not doomed for the landfill. reusable pads allow people that bleed to move about life without having to consider if they will have more pads for their next cycle. the period party pushed me to finally make a FREE pad pattern for people that bleed to make their own pads, at their own pace, and with materials they already own! (self reliance goodness!) the pattern will be available on www.fortnegrita.com very soon. 

since i started making reusable menstrual pads in 2013, i knew i wanted to make them accessible to people that bleed. reusable menstrual pads transformed the way i experience my menstrual cycle, and i am committed to the idea that every person that bleeds deserves an opportunity to take control of their menstrual experience too.
